It was a crisp March morning on a saturday. I was full of excitement and joy to go and play the best sport in the world, soccer. I had been playing a fun league at the time because I just wanted to get the most soccer practice as possible. At the time I really wanted to play soccer as much as possible. I guess you could say that I am passionate about what I do. I wish everybody could be passionate about something like how I am about soccer. Some people have other things that they are passionate about like lacrosse or maybe baseball. I want to convince you that soccer is the best sport in the world and it's the most fun. Most people just think that you just have to put the ball in the other team's net. Well some people might think that is an easy task. With modified rules to help out the defense, there is a rule called off-sides. This rule states that an opponent cannot receive a pass on your side of the field when they are closer to your net than your defense. Although there is a defense rule, there is also an offense rule. This rule states that if a defender on the other team gets a foul inside their own 18 yard box, then they will get a penalty kick. This penalty kick is just the goalie and the teammate that got fouled. He gets one shot to score the ball from 12 yards away. These two rules help balance out the game so that it is harder to score in the game but when someone does score it’s a huge celebration. Although, you may like other sports like baseball or basketball. You should always try to expand your horizons, try something new. I guarantee you will have a great time. There is a league that is local and it’s not too competitive. This league is called REC (recreational). This is what I like to play other than my travel team. This is where the most fun happens. In this league you don’t have to worry about winning or losing. Because in the end it really doesn’t matter. This is also a good league to play with your friends.
