Betrayal, a verb, is defined as to deliver or expose to an enemy by treachery or disloyalty. When a person is betrayed, it is heartbreaking because there has to be a sense of trust to let the person be associated with them. Take George Orwell’s Animal Farm as an example. On Animal Farm, one of the leaders of the farm, Snowball, was betrayed by the other leader, Napoleon. It is believed that Napoleon was greedy for power and chose not to share it. Therefore, in order to take the farm for himself, Orwell had Napoleon use Jessie’s and Bluebell’s puppies as a force to chase Snowball off of Animal Farm (53). The problem with Snowball being chased out was that Snowball was very proactive and wanted to follow Animalism and Old Major’s ideas as well as ignoring the major signs that Napoleon wanted to take over.
