Cahil, freshman at Elk County Catholic and son of a former lifelong tobacco chewer, writing to those who are also affected by smokeless tobacco, whether it be someone battling the addiction or someone who knows someone battling the addiction. When thinking about tobacco, I remember the struggles my father faced when battling addiction, these include, the money issues, the constant need to chew, and the increased irritability he had when he tried quitting. Even though my father did end up quitting after 40 years of chewing, I know of people that have died from chewing tobacco before they even reached 40 years old. If you know someone in the struggle of trying to quit, or if you yourself are struggling trying to quit, then just remember there …show more content…
For you have been purchased at a price. Therefore glorify God in your body," I ask you, with the help of God, to stray away from tobacco use and pray to the Lord for help with the struggles that are occurring over you. Whether these struggles be from decisions that you make or decisions that others around you make, God will forgive and help you with these struggles. God will never put you through anything that you cannot handle. What you should take away from these two bible verses, is that your body is not only a temple of the Holy Spirit, but also a temple of God. There are many ways to glorify God, these include praying, fasting, and what you put into your temple, also know as your body. You do not want to glorify God in a bad way, such as putting tobacco in your body. Taking this into consideration, people should think more about what they put in their body, because putting something such as tobacco into your body is insane, not only is it unhealthy for you, but you are also greatly disrespecting your temple, which is also the temple of God. There are many forms of tobacco, such as chew, dip, and cigarettes, all of these can lead to the same eventual consequence of death. Some people think that smokeless tobacco such as chew and dip are harmless. This is a myth. In fact, it can be even more …show more content…
Being around someone all my life that went through these struggles of tobacco gives me a first hand experience. I have seen people have money and appearance problems. It can be hard to be around these people, even if they are your loved ones, because they smell, have yellow teeth, and many other effects that have taken part in their body. It is very hard to watch as they mistreat their temple. You want to step in and help, but they can become so irritable, especially if they are trying to quit. I have seen someone trying to quit and it is very hard. It took my dad multiple tries before he finally quit a couple years ago. He would go as long as a couple of months with using tobacco and then something might happen in his work life or personal life that just gives him this need to have it again. Growing up seeing this is very hard. When he finally quit, he was so happy because he felt healthier, smelled better, and was saving more money. This great joy can come just from treating your temple with great respect. I have also seen many other struggles. Some of these being people in school. They go through just as many struggles. Many of these kids decide to start using tobacco because they want to fit in. This ends up having a reverse effect because nobody wants to be their friend when they smell, have yellow teeth, and act so irritable. They also get singled out when they get in trouble

When it comes to any type of tobacco usage there are only two sides, the users and the non-users. As a former chewer I have a hard time seeing the side effects of chewing tobacco because nothing bad ever happened to me besides some slight yellowing of the teeth. However there are many studies that point to “chew” not only being a nasty habit, but having some life threatening risks that come along with it. In this informational study we’ll be looking at several professional studies I have found across the internet to conclude whether or not chew is really that dangerous. There are two main terms that smokeless tobacco consumers use to identify their favorite products.…

You shall have them for food.” This states that God created all plants for our use and consumption. Whether or not that includes recreational smoking is unclear. Additionally, though later it warns against intoxication, the Bible does also give permission to enjoy intoxicating substances in moderation in verses such as Ecclesiastes 9:7 where it says “Go, eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart, for God has already approved what you…
