She also says, “...lack in sleep in general --- have higher rate of diabetes, stroke, and high blood pressure...” which means you can get critical diseases by not getting your proper sleep. She also claims, “...were allowed to stay in bed for 10 hours on seven consecutive nights…” this was for the people who was in her experiment, they would only be allowed to sleep for a special amount of time, at the end of the week, she’d check the results. In my reader review of “Homeroom Zombies “by Mr Lawrence Epstein M.D. Mr. Epstein correctly identifies the link between teens and sleep depredation. Teenagers who don't take enough rest have less learning, bad health, behavior and mood problems than students who get at least nine hours a night. In some occasions, teens may be incorrectly diagnosed with ADHD when sleep deprivation is actually the source of their symptoms. Mr Epstein accurate when using survey data backing his claims. Perpetual lack of sleep is tied to diabetes, heart disease, obesity, depression and a shortened life span in adults, underscoring the importance of establishing good sleep habits early in life.…

Readers of the articles “Sacrificing Sleep? This Is What It Will Do to Your Health” and “Yes, Sitting Too Long Can Kill You, Even If You Exercise” will notice their similarities and differences in purpose and tone. In the sacrificing sleep article, the purpose of the article is clear as the authors advocate for the population to get more sleep. The bias of the article is what shows the true purpose and can be seen in this conclusion in the article, “A lack of sleep therefore impacts your ability to pay attention, learn new things, be creative, solve problems and make decisions.” This was drawn after the findings of a study telling of the effects of sleep deprivation were presented.…

Her talk was primarily about what problems can occur when we do not get the necessary amount of sleep on a daily basis. On average in the United States about 66% of teenagers and 30% of adults are day after day sleep deprived. In one experiment, a 17 year old stayed awake for 11 days. On the second day without any sleep his eyes stopped dilating and the next day he was extremely moody and highly uncoordinated.…

Introduction According to the research conducted by Kroese et al. (2016), some mental and physical health consequences, such as concentration problems, memory problems, cardiovascular diseases and obesity, can be caused by insufficient amount of sleep over extended period of time. Since August, 2014, I have been getting an insufficient amount of sleep. Because I am occupying multiple time-consuming roles, for example, being a stay-at-home parent, a wife, and a college student, and having a part-time position on campus, I am juggling a lot of responsibilities, and therefore, I am seriously undermining my free time including the time, when I am supposed to rest and sleep.…

The Impact of Sleep Deprivation “If you 're an average sort of person, 36% of your life will be spent asleep, which means that if you live to ninety, then thirty two years will have been spent entirely asleep.” Russell Foster - a neuroscientist – said in his presentation about “Why Do We Sleep?” on Ted Talks (Foster). The numbers that Foster provided can clearly show how important sleep is; however, a lot of people do not spend enough time sleeping. Statistics by CDC (the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s Morbidity and Mortality) in 2015 pointed out that at least 33% of people in America lack sleep (Liu, Wheaton, Chapman, Cunningham, Lu & Croft).…

The Effects of Sleep Deprivation on Employee Performance The importance of sleep in organizational functioning is well recognized, however, it is apparent that no research has measured job performance as it directly relates to sleep. Employee performance in regards to an organization is defined as the ability to complete job duties and responsibilities in an efficient manner (Ballard & Seibold, 2004). Examining researches will expose which variables have already been explored in regards to sleep and employee performance. Several researches are correlated to these primary variables (Ballard & Seibold, 2006; Pettit, Goris, & Vaught, 1997; Ramadan & Al-Saleh, 2014).…

Sleep, it is the one thing that everyone wishes they would have gotten more of every single night when waking up early in the morning. The sad thing is though, we never actually get as much as we would like. We generally tend to put sleep off the most out of anything throughout our lives, mainly because it means it’s the end of our days. We’d tend to put on one of our favorite tv episodes or movies on, or play video games instead of sleeping. We do this simply because we’re humans.…

According to “The effects of sleep deprivation on the body” by Ann Pietrangelo, it states that hallucination, yawning, accidental death, depression, etc. This article also states “According to Harvard Medical School, studies show that sleeping less than five hours a night increases the risk of death from all causes by about 15 percent.” That may not seem like a lot or even a big enough number for it to “matter” but that’s a very decent number when you really think about how many people in this world are diagnosed with a mental illness everyday by a specialist, whether its stress, or insomnia, or bipolar, generalized anxiety, and so on. Some people have different beliefs and ideas on how to treat, cure, or simply just push aside to get through another day. We all have our different ways of dealing with personal problems; some good and some not so well.…

Proposing The Objectionable It is commonplace these days to think of an educational experience as one in which an individual is eager to partake in a form of growth. This educational experience could be intellectual, spiritual, or even physical if this individual learns about the inner workings of their own body. However, it is not as common to imagine this type of experience to be overwhelmingly challenging. If a student is taught a lesson, they will first be taught the difficult way so that they can understand the reasoning behind the well developed method.…
