The Westing Game is an excellent novel as well as movie, however, they tell a somewhat different story. Sandy, Barney, Julian, and Sam are all different people right? This proves to be true in both the movie and the book. The Westing Game, written by Ellen Raskin, is a book about a 12 year old girl named Turtle, or Tabitha Ruth, who discovers who was responsible for the death of her dear Uncle Sam.…

It gave her uncomfortable feelings and forced her to blush if her mother was speaking. Only when she got older she realized her own mistake – judging by the way the person talks, instead of the way he or she thinks. It made Amy Tan perceive that her own “perfect English”, which she used to implement in her early writing, does not stand a chance and that it is boring and useless. She decided to write in the simple, the “most full” language, so people like her mother would understand it. Her mother and her “broken English” created the writer with a unique style of presentation.…
The Cather in the Rye really sucked me in and got me thinking about a lot. The book is about teenager Holden Caulfield and his experiences growing up and maturing in New York before he decides to go home. Initially the book started out kind of slow but quickly picked up and I had a hard time putting it down. The Catcher in the Rye quickly caught my attention and dragged me in. In the second chapter of the book while Holden is talking to his history teacher Mr. Spencer about how life is just a game, Holden states “Game, my ass.…
Try being still long enough to find the right image you want to capture through the lens of a camera. Finding the right shot takes time, which each shot you want it to be precise and just right. You always want as a photographer to make the first shot the best one mostly so you want have to take the time to find another shot. Imagine how frustrating it is thinking you’re first shot is the best until you look at the blurry and unfocused picture. The first time you look at that picture you think to yourself that you can just retake that same picture and will look different the next time.…

Therefore I decided to do some research, by research I mean Netflix. I was determined to find a movie worth watching. I came across The Perfect Game.…
Unlike the rest of the characters who are victims of racism, Officer Ryan is the racist person harassing other characters. He seems to be a bad guy for a large majority of the movie, but the other side of him becomes prevalent when problems come about in his household. Officer Ryan is introduced in the movie when he pulls over Cameron and Christine, then because they are both black, he harasses the couple and molests Christine while “searching” her. Gordon B. Hinckley had once said something along the lines of hard work paying off, if effort is enforced into the work. Over the years I’ve had in high school I have really absorbed the aspect of this, being able to work up and achieve opportunities for the preparation in the outside world. Seventh and eighth grade having to understand the concepts in the athletic sport tennis was hard for me to comprehend. Actually being able to have proper etiquette of holding a tennis racquet was key, but being able to hit a tennis ball was a ‘whole other ball game.’ All two years of playing tennis in middle school I can not remember a single time me nor my tennis partner won a match.…
Thus, she creates a new persona and written self and soon, “this impersonal self, this cultural negative capability, becomes the truest thing about [her]” (121). When she writes about her new experiences in English, she is creating a new Eva who is completely different from the old Ewa all because the language is different. There are no longer “sentimental effusions of rejected love, eruptions of familial anger, or consoling broodings about death” in her writing because “English is not the language of such emotions” (121). Hoffman has lost the ability to express herself in the way she is familiar with in Polish and the emotions that she wants to write cannot be fully expressed in…
