Jack is the perfect example of Sigmund Freud's “ID” personality. The ID personality is someone who is unconscious of the significance of things. In William Golding’s book, Lord of the Flies, Jack acts againsts the leader, Ralph. He focuses on his own desires and does what he pleases. This personality theory is ID, Ego, and Superego. Jack identifies with the ID. The ID is independent and doesn't like to take orders. Ralph identifies with the ego. The ego is a leader who makes decisions. The ego is aware of what is happening and doesn't ignore it. Piggy identifies with the superego. The superego is aware of things and incorporates ethics and morals. The superego directs people in the right direction. This theory shapes an outline to the book, Lord of the Flies, and helps develop the way each character acts and makes
