Technology is an amazing addition to our daily lives. Most people carry their phones around all day with them to check Instagram, Snapchat, or Facebook and be connected. “Shut Down Your Screen Week” is a good idea which can lead to less distractions but it can also be very inconvenient to others. Some schools use technology such as iPads or computers to help kids understanding of content or to read and write. Social media is used to connect with other people from wherever in the world to talk and be with each other without being physically there. At Orinda Intermediate School, most classrooms have a Smartboard or projector which can be used for students to see things like assignments and papers. If the Smartboards weren’t at the school, then every student would have to get individual papers which would make the cost for papers go sky high.
