In the Canadian legal system, possession of marijuana is still illegal. However, medical marijuana is permitted under specific guidelines, which is known as the Medical Marihuana Access Regulations (MMAR). This system clarifies under which conditions and methods, marijuana can be used. Patient needs an approval of a license physician to apply to Health Canada for authorization to possess and use marijuana, as well as the permission to grow limited amounts of marijuana for personal use.
