In the United States committing or attempting suicide is not a legal offense,however helping another person commit suicide is considered a criminal offense. Physician assisted suicide is illegal in most states, with the exception of oregon, allowing terminally ill patients to get a lethal prescription from their doctor. Assisted suicide is a very controversial topic, and many are against it because of the thought of suicide and murder but what many people forget is the feelings of the patients who are suffering to the extreme to get up in the morning.
