In Canada, the youngest age you are able to walk in a casino and try your luck with your hard earned money is nineteen, compared to the United States (twenty-one). Gambling has no immediate pro’s and having the age so low only causes more problems with teenagers struggling with their finances and depression. There is an issue within Canadian teenagers blowing away too much money in their younger years through the act of gambling, therefore, the minimum gambling age should be increased to the age of twenty-five.
It’s been proven through multiple studies of the brain that the human brain doesn’t fully develop until you have reach the age of 25, while most privileges and responsibilities are granted by the age of 16, gambling being 21. It is proven that major losses of gambling can result in increased alcohol intake, and this combined with the growing mind can cause not only a gambling addiction, but can preserve alcohol an easy escape from their problems, and this can only cause mental health problems and physical issues, alone with family issues.
