Should Johnnie Leigh Extend The Business In Global Markets

Technological advances played an important role to speed globalization. Globalization is the process in which the world interacts and becomes interdependent economically, politically, environmentally, and socially. Information technology has become a part of our lives and has made the world smaller bringing people closer together. To help Johnnie Leigh extend the business to global markets, there are some issues Johnnie should consider.

First, Johnnie should devise a strategy how to advertise her store and how to reach customers. Modern communication technology such as cell phones, computers, satellites, and the Internet allows people from around the world to connect each other and exchange their ideas, traditional cultures, languages, and knowledge. For example, people share photos, files, articles, and videos on their blogs or social media such as Facebook or YouTube to spread their cultures, creativity, and values and to voice their opinions. Using web cameras people from different countries have face-to-face communication and broadcasting disregarding geographic distance and time. The World Wide Web allows a quick, free access to any information about shopping, news, weather, and research using the Internet. And

Information technology has influenced businesses in the global marketplace. Companies have more opportunities to find low-cost supply chains around the world and, thus provide goods and services at affordable prices. To compete in the global marketplace, Johnnie should think of strategies how to incorporate new technology in their business processes in order to lower costs and increase productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness. She can also differentiate her store by innovation. For example, she can provide a virtual tour of the store, a cultural event during the holidays, or give a prize to a person who posted the best picture on the store web
