Finding strengths and weaknesses in the institutions, and trying to find a school tailored to your specific interests are going to be harder and harder to find the less time you have to look. It is of high importance that you spend lots of time researching for colleges that match you the best, taking into consideration the fact that there is more than one “right” school. Having the time to study and really look into the institutions themselves is a very important part of the college process, if not the most important. High schoolers struggle with trying to get into their dream college and think that they can only go to the most talked about ones that are the hardest to get into such as Stanford, Harvard, Yale, etc. This remains a crisis in the minds of high schoolers of any age group.
