After reading up on some articles about dress codes getting taken way too far, I have the same point of view on this situation! Which is that it is taken too far. Some girls think that dress codes are very sexist and that us girls are unfairly targeted. According to NEA Today’s article “Girls fight back against gender bias in schools dress codes.” In Indiana a 12 year old was suspended and missed two days of class due to a little bit of her collarbone showing. The school called her mom waho brought her a scarf to cover the tiny bit of collarbone showing, but the 12 year old was still sent home and suspended. One eighth grader named Hailey Tjensuold explained how boys whose pants sag are simply told to “pull up your pants,” and girls are sent to the office and “forced” to call their parents to bring them a change of clothes. When it comes to dress codes in schools, there is a different standard applied to girls who are more curvy, more developed, or even just being tall.
