Should City Council Adopt The New Curfew?

Decent Essays
I believe that the city council should not adopt the new curfew for these reasons. First off teenagers are starting to drive and have to do things later at night for their families. The new curfew would make this a challenge. It would limit the chance for friends to hang out and be with each other on the weekends. Lastly it would put a lot of harmless teenagers in danger of being caught out past curfew. Because teenagers are starting to get their license by the age of 16 they will be going out more and helping with the family chores. They will also be driving themselves to and from any club/ team that they participate in. A personal experience in my life that relates to this is my hockey practices. If this new curfew would be adopted my parents would have take time out of their own day to drive me to and from practice which they could be doing much more useful things than driving me to my practices. The weekends are a time for teenagers to take a small break from school and be with their friends, relax, and have a good time. The curfew would limit the opportunity for this to happen because we all have things to get done during the day and most of the time we have the nights off. If the curfew would be adopted teenagers wouldn't be able to hang out with each other at night as much as if there was no curfew. Teenagers will be teenagers, they will do whatever they want to do and not what they are told to do. Being a teenager myself we find it fun to do the opposite of what we are told to do. So if the law says don't go out past 12, chances are we are going to go out past 12. More teenagers will get in trouble for being out past curfew even if they are just trying to get home, get food, or just doing something completely harmless. I can understand why some people would support the curfew for a few reasons. Some teenagers go out at night to break other laws that could cause harm to
