Yalta Conference in Ukraine which was in February 1945 this was a time were US President Roosevelt, British Prime Minister Churchill and Russian leader Stalin all sat down for a private meeting and this was done prior to the end of World War II In this meeting, President Roosevelt was looking for help from the Soviet leader Stalin to make a stand against Japan and to do this they needed a stronger military. To get help from Stalin we had to agree to give them control of Sakhalian, Kurile Island and Manchuria so they have railway privileges. For America to create the United Nation was main object during the Yalta meeting. The president want to have all three powers working together before any large issues of the postwar could separate them. Once everyone needs where meet and the compromises complete an April 1945 meeting was set in San Francisco. Now when it came to discussing Germany, they all felt that they must surrender unconditionally and must generate four regions. Then there Churchill that stated the French should have a region located within the American and British sectors. German compensations where set at 20 billion and one was also worked out for Poland. Yalta and Potsdam conference I feel these were some of the strong reason for the Cold War the member that were all involved where talking about what they wanted but, there was no trust and if you can’t trust how can you really agree on settling the conflict. Because in the back of your mind your always wonder what the others are up to. Plus, the American believed in capitalism and we did not want the Soviet Union to control part of the nation by communism we believed in freedom and the right to be heard. But one of the main problems was the concern of the atomic bomb and who would be the first to use and then we had the missile crisis in 1962 but this was ended when Russia decided to turn their ships around and the US blocked all excess for Russia to come into Cuba.
