I Didnt Mean To Fall In Love Analysis

Bright stage lights blinding her face, hundreds of people watching, long bus rides from city to city, stopping to eat at the local McDonald 's or Burger King five days a week, witnessing drugs and alcohol being passed around like it was candy, and not knowing where and if she’ll get a paycheck. “Doesn’t sound like much of a gem, does it? I never partook in the drugs, however being a musician came at a price darlin’. There was nothing like stepping on that stage each night and singing my little heart out though.” Valerie began playing the main keyboard part of “Didn’t Mean To Fall in Love” by Boston. She was only warming up, but she showed through the way that she swayed her head, closed her eyes, and counting through the measures that her lifelong passion of being a singer stood strong. The room/studio she was playing in was occupied by two people, decently lit, a brown shaggy type of carpet laid beneath our feet, a desk in the corner of the room, with the rest of the floor space cleared for the other instruments that would be joining her later, and a poster of Elvis Presley, her idol, hung on the wall above where her keyboard was displayed. Valerie took a quick sip of water, cleared her throat, and then she began singing her most popular song when she recorded her first album, a cover of “Smokin in the Rockies.” She began the song and the noise filled the room. Her voice while she sang was a mix between June Carter and Loretta Lynn in a high, crisp tone. Her fingers moved fast from key to key, her eyebrows went up and down like a busy elevator in fast forward, and her foot stomped along with the beat of the music. She had a smile on her face as the song quickly progressed. The song came to an end in a flash and she was ready to begin playing the song that brought her back to the studio. “ This next one was heaven sent, I was on my way from Tennessee to North Carolina with the Smoky Mountains surrounding me and all of a sudden the first few lyrics and notes hit me. I know God had given me a sign to chase my dream once more and that’s why I’m sitting here, ready to play this next tune for you.” The lyrics “I’m Carolina Bound” came from her lips and her eyes were focused on the music sheet as she smoothly pushed down on the keys of her keyboard. There was something different about the way she sang this tune. A few tears began streaming down her face and then her voice began to start and stop for lack of better words. She stopped playing altogether and took a minute to gather herself. The studio remained quiet until Valerie spoke,“ I’m sorry, you just have no idea how much this song means to me.” She wiped away the last of her tears, straightened herself up, and took a deep breath in. “Carolina Bound” was a slow paced, low pitched song that she played all the way through. Valerie got up from her chair and grabbed the …show more content…
I felt nervous about observing her, because I don’t know too much about music, other than playing trumpet and having the ability to sing a few rock songs. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to explain much about my experience. I was also excited, because I have always wanted to experience being in a studio and listening to music. I didn’t let her know that I was observing her, because it may have changed the outcome of the experience. She might have played different songs, not get too emotional, and maybe it would make her feel uncomfortable in her own environment. I decided to tell her that it would be great to hear her sing and see how people work in the studio. We go to the same church, so that also made it easier to observe her before the church service. What I learned from her was to always take any opportunity that shows itself, to perform like it will be the last time, and to not have any doubt about what I want to do in my

On the night of January 28, in 1985 in the 97th General Hospital at a United States Army base in Frankfurt, West Germany, is the birthplace of a man that would soon change the music world forever with his powerful array of lyrical meaning and word play. Also known as Jermaine Lamar Cole, J. Cole’s arguably most popular song, “Love Yourz” not only demonstrates palpable humility in which Cole compares the two types of lives he has lived, but also distress to a belief that this nation has built itself around, the American Dream. Rapping at the age of twelve, Cole’s love and passion for creating music has spurred him to become the harbinger of rap music in today’s society. Living with only his older brother, Zachary, his mother, and only the image…

Have you ever heard a song that has impacted your life? Songs are a form of art that allows artists to express their feelings in a form of music. Songs can be interrupted in many ways; some songs have a more literal meaning, while other songs require you to interpret the lyrics to understand the deeper meaning. Artists often use figurative, metaphorical, and poetic elements in their songs to help develop the overall message. The use of figurative terms in a song leaves the interpretation of the song broad and allows the listener to have their own meaning of the song.…

I have so many different thoughts and opinions about this book. I started out loving Has to Be Love, was super conflicted in the middle, but thought the ending was pretty spectacular. Like I said, conflicted. Our narrator, Clara, was rather frustrating to read about because she was so torn between what decisions to make about particular things, but she was a truthful character (to us at least). Reading Clara's justifications for wanting certain things made me more interested in the story and what would eventually happen…

Chills coursed throughout my body when Eliza Rickman began singing. Her voice sounded even better in real life than it did recorded. I was astounded, bathed in the music, my throat clenching as I tried not to cry. Not only could she reach every note, but she sounded even more eerily haunting than I had dared to imagine. Her strange assortment of instruments was foreign to me, she had an antique toy piano, bells and even an accordion.…

“Love is an endless mystery, for it has nothing else to explain it” a quote by Rabindranath Tagore, summarizes the themes implemented in “Hills like White Elephants” by Ernest Hemingway, and “What we Talk About When we Talk About Love” by Raymond Carver.
