When reading this poem I realize that it shows us the part of the world most of us don't know about or don't want to know about. This poem is relatable to different aspects of people’s life. When we become adults and see what is going on we realized the world is not what it seems there is war everywhere in Iraq but we never had to deal with it because we are protected by our government. In the poem “Sonnet, with pride” by Sherman Alexie, in the fourth line he stated "Now imagine yourself as a lion that has never been on a hunt. That never walked outside of a cage. That has been coddled and fed all its life. And now your world is exploding all around you” In this line he is describing the experience of the bystanders to the acts of war. He describes the world of the individual’s and their now peaceful life that is interrupted by acts of violence and are no longer able to continue living in the way that they know.
