Many people during 1607 to 1815 gained freedom and lost their freedom. Let’s talk about which people gained some sort of freedom from 1607 to 1815. Back in 1867 Shays rebellion happened which was a protest with farmers who were protesting against debt collectors and judges, now even though Shays rebellion failed it did lead to some good things that brought people some people freedom. Now Shays rebellion happened cause of a bunch of angry farmers who were having to sell their land cause of high taxes, interest rates and debts, it all started when states got into debt from past wars and when debt collectors started calling in there payment. After the rebellion was stopped multiple things happened. One, it showed the Americans how weak the articles of confederation were and this helped with the showing congress that they needed a stronger government which lead to the creation of the constitution. Two, each county in Massachusetts had representation to help deal with the debt problem and this was a huge help as by literally each county having this representation it helped deal with the debt problem a bit. Now Shays rebellion even though in the end was stopped it did lead to some form of freedom for a few things, Shays rebellion lead to farmers getting help with their debt problem by having each county getting representation. This also lead to the creation to the constitution which we know helped get a stronger government but in the constitution there was a three fifths rule which was an idea that slaves were now represented as three fifths of a person, this three fifth rule help with the issue of representation of states as some states had a good chunk of their population as slaves. Way back in early exploration there was competition between Spain and Portugal, they were both looking for better trade routes to Asia as there were a lot of things that the Europeans liked from Asia, but this competition lead to some problems with Spain and Portugal so the Pope stepped in and made the Treaty of Tordesillas which basically said that there is a line of exploration and Spain can explore this side, which was the side that lead to the new world, and Portugal and explore this side, which lead to Africa, India, and Asia. So Spain went on their explore line with Columbus and went to explore the new world in hopes of finding a trade route through their side of exploration while Portugal was looking for a better trade route to get to Asia on their side of exploration. While in the process of looking for a better trade route they decided to head along the coast of Africa which lead Portugal to meeting a lot of native tribes to which they traded with and built a relationship with. This later in turn provided some good things for Portugal, slaves. Now with Portugal trading with these natives they found out that the natives had slaves which were the members of other African tribes that lost to the tribe selling them in some sort of battle or war.
