The Shang Dynasty
Introduction
Over 150,000 oracle bones have been made by the Shang Dynasty, and have been discovered by archaeologists. The Shang (Sometimes referred to as the Yin Dynasty!) have existed from 1600 BCE to 1050 BCE, and had writing related to current Chinese writing. They used oracle bones to ask questions, and that alone holds a lot of valuable information. To sum that up, the Shang Dynasty ruled for 550 years, and was an advanced civilization because they invented Chinese related writing, and wrote on oracle bones. The bones hold information that archaeologists now discovered.

According to the text, “This ancient writing is fairly similar to modern Chinese script.” (www.ducksters.com) The Shang writing relates to Chinese, so that way people are able to decipher what they wrote on oracle bones, the main writing source it was written on. These oracle bones all consist of question and answers to those questions. According to the text, “Questions on oracle bones included things like ’Will we win the war?’,’Should we go hunting tomorrow?’, and ‘Will the baby be a son?’” (www.ducksters.com) In short, The Shang had similar writing to Chinese writing, and the oracle bones they wrote on consist of questions people today have deciphered.
Valuable Bones Oracle bones hold lots of valuable information. This info had mainly been questions.
