I was invited to the castle of Macbeth for his coronation and this is my recollection of the event.
The castle had a perplexing feel to it. From the outside, it was sweet and delicate, but the moment one entered, there was a disorienting feeling of vulnerability. The castle was far from being illuminated, so much that not a soul would notice if there were to be brute lurking amongst the fortress. All of the guests, including myself, were being lead to the room of the great feast as if we were a bunch of petrified cattle. Not a great way to start a great occasion. Lennox and Lady Macbeth urged Macbeth to take a seat. He chuckled a hearty laugh. “The table’s full”, he said. Lennox tried to assure him otherwise, but Macbeth seemed to not be having it. Lennox showed the chair that Macbeth was to be seated in and he still didn’t believe him. Looking at the chair, it was empty. Nothing to be seen. It was indeed a chair fit for the king. Macbeth quiety mumbled the words “Thy gory mocks at me”. I whispered to the man beside me, “Who is shaking their bloody head at him?”. Lady Macbeth begged us all to remain seated and claimed that this is just typical Macbeth. I shrugged my shoulders and begin to eat. Lady Macbeth and

He revealed, “I have no spur to prick the sides of my intent, but only vaulting ambition, which o’erleaps itself and falls on the other -” (1.7.25-28). This statement portrays Macbeth as diffident and hesitant, as he doubts that his ambition is enough for him to continue with the plan. These qualities serve as a basis for comparison. This sets a kind of foundation for which his upcoming transformations in character - which gradually shifts to satisfy his need for dominance - can be built upon. One example of these changes occur soon after Macbeth gains his kingship status.…
