This abuse can have long lasting effects and potentially make the child to grow to be an abuser such that as a serial murder. However, there is no definite answer linking traumatic experiences leading to possible serial murders. But many serial murders did endure abuse and it is possible cause for serial murders. Jim Clemente, an FBI Profiler explains serial killers with a gun analogy, “Genetics loads the gun, their personality and psychology aim it, and their experiences pull the trigger” (Merryweather). One of the most notorious serial murders, John Wayne Gacy, better known as “Pogo” the clown, was servilely beaten and emotionally teared down by his drunken father. Gacy was stripped away of a happy childhood which lead him to create “Pogo” and bring the joy he was deprived from as a child (Merryweather). But did Gacy’s alcoholic father create the famous terrifying killer clown who claimed innocent lives? The answer remains a mystery but it is possible that due emotionally disturbing occurrences as a child, abused children can be shaped to grow into shocking
