“If you have a dream, don’t let anyone take it away and always believe that the impossible is always the possible.” Those are words said by Selena Quintanilla, a famous Tejano, Mexican singer. It is crazy how a few strong words could be remembered for so long and perhaps even change history. According to Biography.com Selena Quintanilla was daughter of Marcella and Abraham Quintanilla who was a musician when Selena was young. Selena the was youngest sister of two; a brother named Abraham Quintanilla the III and a sister named Suzette Quintanilla. She was born on April 16, 1972, in Lake Jackson, Texas. Selena was a natural singer, she became her family's lead singer at the age of 10 (Biography.com).
When Selena was younger she had the talent to sing, but her plans were not to be a singer. When she was younger Selena wanted to be a stylist, but when she saw she was getting famous at a young age she started singing. All Her family had a band and they traveled so much so her dad pulled her out of school in eighth grade according to Biography of Selena. Even though she didn’t attend school she got a degree in a school at Chicago.
Selena was raised in her home with the english language, but as she continued learning lyrics that her father composed she slowly continued learning spanish as well until she began to speak spanish fluently (Biography.com). Selena began to grow as a Tejano artists and she became very popular, increasing her number of fans rapidly; In 1987 Selena received the “Best Female vocalist of the year” award, and the “Performer of the year” award as well (Biography.com). According to Biography.com, there is no doubt that Selena was truly the soul of Tejano music, because in 1980 she created an album named “Ven Conmigo” and sold an outstanding 500,000 copies and perhaps more. Once Selena reached a gold record with her album married the lead guitarist of her band; the lucky man that married Selena that year was named Chris Perez (Biography.com). Biography.com explained, once she returned back to her music, Selena created more albums that ended up going gold as well. According to the biography.com, when Selena met her first love her dad opposed to it. Selena loved him since the first time she met him,but her dad did not approve of the relationship. Selena then sat down with her mom and talked to her about her relationship with Chris. Her mom then approved it, but her dad was still opposing to it. Selena was threatened by her father if she had anything to do with Chris he would kick him out of the band that he was in and she would no longer be able to see him. That is when Selena made the decision to secretly go out with Chris. Everything was working out perfectly fine until her sister found out and ratted her out with her father. Selena’s father was determined to kick him out, but Selena’s word were convincing and let them be together. On April 2, 1992 they got married according to Top 20 Facts. In 1993 Selena created an album named “Live” and received a grammy award in behalf of her fans named “Mexican- American album” (Biography.com).

Selena continued composing and performing more amazing songs through 1994 until she tragically died from a bullet wound in March 31, 1995 (Biography.com). According to investigations Selena died in the arms of the person who created the Selena fan club, her name was Yolanda Saldivar (Biography.com). Yolanda was caught embezzling money and before she could be officially terminated from her job she shot Selena, creating one of the saddest moments in pop history (Biography). After Selena’s death her final album was realist and became into one of the albums the world will never forget (Biography.com). The murderer of Selena was convicted for first degree murder and sentenced life in prison according to CNN News. Also according to CNN Yolanda Saldivar will be eligible for parole in 2025. Many of Selena’s fans have a great amount of hate on Yolanda Saldivar for ending the career of one very loved women. Fans say if Yolanda ever comes
