I would like to talk to you about America’s second amendment. The second amendment states, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” Although I deeply respect James Madison, who originally wrote the second amendment, many people feel that this amendment should be changed. 17 people were killed on February 14, 2018. They all lost their lives due to the misuse of the second amendment. They all had great lives ahead of them and I deeply wish all the victim’s families the best as we continue fighting for them. Now, I have a question. After about 15 mistakes in about three months, how has our nation still not learned? How have we overlooked this major problem? President Trump, if you would really like to help the victims, if you really care about America, you would recognize the reoccurring problem in our nation. Mr. Trump, you have the ability to make a change, yet you choose not to. Haven’t you learned anything from this presidency?
Writer, William A. Ward once stated, “a pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails.” It is time for us to adjust the sails. Although I am only one person, I know that our nation believes that this is time for us to change. I choose to represent all of those harmed by the misuse of the second amendment.
