Sea Cucumbers: Defense Mechanisms

Sea Cucumbers have two main defense mechanisms. When they feel threatened they will release some of their internal organs to distract a predator; and over a few weeks the missing organs will be reproduced by the body. Sea Cucumbers also have a ‘sticky thread’ which they release when they feel threatened, which sticks onto the predator. This trait is successful at deterring predators away from Sea Cucumber; surviving Sea Cucumbers pass this trait onto their many offspring and have a successful defense mechanism for many generations.
