Scrum's Collaboration

Collaborative: Agile approach emphasizes, strong collaboration between the stakeholders involved in the project over contract negotiation [6] and being a Agile framework, Scrum embraces customer collaboration. At Intuit, our team’s customer were Business Analysts as they were the users of the data our ETL pipeline provided. All throughout the project we were in tight collaboration with Business Analysts in every iteration. I am a “customer empathetic” engineer and I think as a project manager I would want my team members to inculcate this quality. I strongly believe that following Scrum approach of customer collaboration facilitates understanding of customer pain points.

At Intuit, my team’s customer - Business Analysts - wanted the user behavior data in their SQL database which they studied by retrieving the data by writing queries. One day while working with a Business Analyst, where he was trying to show me a nuance in one of the fields we gathered data for. One such example, in my experience in a startup is using a mobile and desktop compatible chat application. This not only helped us quickly reply to concerns regardless of location but also avoided formal emails which I think consume more time. There were different groups for meetings, production issues, general issues and so on. This allowed quick, easy and organized interaction over mobile devices as well. I personally felt that teammates (even if working from home or remote locations) were very accessibly and approachable and removed the sense of formality to a certain extent. In my opinion somehow this helps build a more stronger team spirit and sense of collaboration which is critical to the project success from a project management
