Katherine Ralsten and Constance Newman, writers of “A Look at What’s Driving Lower Purchases of School Lunches” ,have written that recent studies suggest that while many school districts have adjusted to the new standards, maintaining full price lunch participation remains more challenging for smaller more rural and affluent districts (Ralsten and Newman, par. 18). There may be other schools that do not have any issues in changing the school lunches due to that fact that they can afford it, but there are other cities that do not have the money to afford good lunches. What will make it even worse is the fact that we students will be charged for their good everyday. Roberto A. Ferdman, writer of the Washington Post, says that according to the Agriculture Department millions of children from low income families that qualify for Medicaid are not enrolled in the free and reduced price meals program (Ferdman, par. 5). This can also contribute to the problem of students not eating. Parents should try to at least enroll their student in free or reduced lunch, so they can have something to eat. If we can find a way to change this it can help more students that can not afford everyday
