To start off the show, Gutfeld and his guests conversed about the false BuzzFeed dossier about Donald Trump and his subsequent claims about widespread “fake news” in the mainstream media. They addressed the ongoing theme of the “liberal, mainstream” media attempting to delegitimize President-Elect Donald Trump and how their actions only make them look petty. But, Mr. Gutfeld was quick to add that both…

South Park is an American adult animated sitcom created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone for the Comedy Central television network. The show revolves around four boys—Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, Eric Cartman, and Kenny McCormick—and their bizarre adventures in and around the titular Colorado town. Much like The Simpsons, South Park utilizes a very large ensemble cast of recurring characters. Intended for mature audiences, the show has become infamous for its crude language and dark, surreal humor that satirizes a wide range of topics.…
In the article from “The Onion”, satire is being used to sell products to consumers. The marketer's first start off by describing their product, which in this case, is the “Magna Soles”. It starts off by mentioning that there are “stressed and sore-footed Americans everywhere”. Which is most likely true, but the publisher exaggerated that they are everywhere. Standardization testing has been around since the 1960s to prove the knowledge each student has. Tests such as the SAT and the ACT which will determine your college education, career, and future. As well as the state testings, under the ruling of the No Child Left Behind act, that decides how much funding a school get based on how the students are taught and how much they learned. Recently, I watched a new Netflix original animated comedy called Big Mouth. It came out last year and only has released one season. This show spares no gross detail as it follows tween characters in middle school as they go through puberty and deal with the many other issues that come with adolescence. Best friends Nick and Andrew navigate through their relationship after going through recent changes, or lack thereof in Nick’s case, and face challenges: masturbation, sexuality, girls, urges, and hormone monsters. It also presents Nick and Andrew’s female counterparts, Missy and Jessi, and shows their feelings and struggles as they go through similar changes.…
Samuel L. Jackson once said, “We’ve come a long way in our thinking, but also in our moral decay.” This quote holds true today as society stays rapidly changing and people become more and more desensitized to the horrors of the world. The line between right and wrong fades and turns to a larger gray area, and many things that happen in society today make us question how we, as a collective people, ended up where we are and how we acquired the customs we have today. Aldous Huxley, in his novel Brave New World, uses a great deal of satire and exaggeration to express his concerns for the society he was born into and bring attention to the problems of moral decay, drug dependency, and brainwashing, among other things, in the world.…
Saturday Night Live, SNL,is like a humours talk show where they talk and make fun of anything that everyone seems to be talking about. It begins with a man directing the commercial and he thinks it's an amazing idea. The director then starts to explain his idea to people and no one seems to be accepting it. When he begins to notice how the idea behind the commercial isn't how he hoped for it to be, he attempts to call it off only to discover it's too late. The SNL commercial is a satire.…

His comments were hypocritical, and he was pro-women until the truth about his conduct was exposed to the public. Saturday Night Live then slipped in their own feelings on the sexual misconduct by claiming “I hope you get what’s coming to you” (3:29). Aside from their comical reputation, SNL still makes a point to address the serious issue and that it isn’t a funny topic. Even though they addressed the issue in the industry, the video is an understatement of the true issue. Because the video is comical, it can make the sexual harassment issue seem like a less serious problem in the…
In conclusion, The Simpsons was the catalyst that redefined the sitcom genre. The shows refreshing take on the American family, full of dysfunction and conflict, was reflective of a changing USA at the time. As shown above, the show became a trend setter with its dark satirical view of the American culture and society. The show broke many taboos in the sitcom genre, whether that be through the exploration of abandoning religion, the questioning of authority figures or new found female agency. This show was important in breaking down the walls that would led to radically different styles of sitcom in 90s and into the 21st century.…
Satire Satire or the use of humor, irony, or exaggeration to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices is used in many types of stories to entertain the reader in a fun way. There are many different stories that do this by not even talking about it. Authors can do this by saying jokes all throughout a story and they don’t even mention their jokes. This is one of the best ways to make a story because laughter is one of the best feelings.…
In clips featuring politicians and media, they are shown very differently. The newsreaders and politicians are loud, uncoordinated, and saying things that – without context – sound ridiculous and untrue, such as claiming that “when your momma gets sick, she might talk to a bureaucrat instead of a doctor,” and comparing socialised medicine in America to healthcare in Soviet Russia. Not only that, but during the clips featuring politicians and media, Michael Moore has played music that is typically heard in comedy skits or circus acts in the background, to further convince a viewer that their arguments (scare tactics, as labelled by Moore) are nothing more…
