Ugh… homework! When I tell you to think of homework the first thing that comes to mind for many people is the negative, stressful, annoyed feeling when we realize that there are piles and piles of uncompleted homework. Wouldn’t it be great if we didn’t have that feeling, almost every single day?
In any case, there are many solutions to this like no homework at all, one homework day per week but in particular, my first idea that I will be focusing on is homework choice. Homework choice is, giving students choices and options. Giving students this freedom can make them feel less tensed and more laid-back. And as a result of being more relaxed, it can make the student’s classroom performance a lot better, and let’s be honest …show more content…
Whether you go to school, or whether you’re done with school, everyone is somewhat affected by homework. But due to the fact that everyone is at least slightly affected by homework, that means that everyone is affected negatively. For instance parents, yes of course homework lets them see what their kid is doing at school, which don’t get me wrong is good. But if I'm being honest, homework disturbs family life. It prevents students from spending quality time with their family or friends. Just imagine this, some students come home and they have to get out their pile of homework and sit on their butt for a few hours, instead of getting out a game to play and actually interact with other people like their families and friends. And all this homework doesn’t just come out of nowhere, it obviously has to come from someone. And those people are teachers. Teachers are the main source of homework, they’re the ones who pile the homework in front of the students. And well, obviously they can’t be affected by homework, WRONG! Teachers are affected by homework as much as anyone else. Homework lets teachers get more of an idea of the students knowledge and responsibility. In fact, homework somewhat actually helps teachers. For instance, when students actually decide to complete their homework, teachers can look at the students homework and see what they do well in and what they need to improve on. Is homework necessary? Whether homework is necessary or not, that is up to you to decide. In my point of view, homework has its ups and downs. Homework improves and helps in many aspects, but it’s so stressful and even the word can make students cringe. Homework is not given to students because they dislike it. Homework doesn’t exist to annoy and stress the students. But newsflash! Homework does annoy and irritate a lot of students. So why is homework still given to students? Well obviously, because it’s necessary. But, is it really? If you stop and think about it, the truth is that homework is not necessary. Do you have trouble believing that? Well, here are a few great arguments that will definitely convince you. First off, 6 hours and a half at school obviously wasn’t enough! So here, let's give another 2 hours of work! Thank you. Us students have 6 hours and half at school, we start at 8:05am and go home at 2:35pm, that’s almost a full day of school. Most adults work similar lengths of time at work and come home exhausted. Yet they can’t understand when their kids have trouble focusing at the end of a full day of school. And that brings me to my next point. It is unreasonable to make any student spend too many hours studying or working. If an adult has trouble concentrating or focussing while doing work that’s nothing compared to a kid or
