He did the unexpected and took the taboo, underground faith of satanism and brought it to the surface. Before he published the Bible, Anton first opened a church, called the Church of Satan in San Francisco on April 30, 1966. This church was the first above ground church of its kind, it closed after Anton died on October 29,1997. After it closed there was not another well known Satanic church, it went back underground. For being a Satanist here is no particular place for them to worship, many people worship in their own homes, sometimes there are groups that meet up in secret locations and worship together. With popular alternative religions there are specific numbers of how many people are associated with that religion. It is arduous to have a estimated number of satanist because in our world being a satanist is very frowned upon and very taboo. Which causes these people to practice their religion clandestinely. The effect of this means there is no number of how mant Satanist there is. After taking a dive into the world of satanism, to get a better understanding I read the Satanic Bible. Who would have thought, two religions that dislike each other extremely actually have mort aspects prevalent than thought. One of the most known is they both have sacred text; the Bibles. Catholicism has the Catholic Bible that contains scripture, prayer and rituals. Satanism has the Satanic Bible that contains rituals. They also have a sacred book called the Satanic scriptures. They both can practice their religion in private at home or in a church with others. With churches there is a hierarchy. Both of these faith contain a hierarchy for people who want to be dedicated to the faith and keep climbing in the belief. Both hierarchies have 6 levels to them both a little different in their own way. Catholic: 1. Decan: studying for priesthood, 2. Priest: someone who can do most of the sacraments, 3. Bishop: almost like a priest but is a teacher of church doctrine and is part of the church government, 4. Archbishop: is a bishop of a main diocese, 5. Cardinal: picked by the pope, helps advise the pope and when the pope is on his deathbed, they elect a new pope to take over, 6. Pope: the head of it all, he decides matters of faith and morals.
