WHO IS SAMUEL SOSA?

Introduction

A professional baseball player from the Dominican Republic, Sammy Sosa was born on November 12, 1968, in San Pedro de Macoris. He and Mark McGwire thrilled fans in the late 1990s with a record-setting home run hat trick. The year 1999 marked the first time that Sosa had hit sixty home runs in a span of two seasons. When Sosa was a kid, he took on various jobs, like shining shoes, to help his family out after his father passed away. He started playing organized baseball when he was 14 years old, using a mitt that was constructed from a milk carton. Five years later, in 1985, he signed a contract with the Texas Rangers. Although he made his debut in the professional baseball league in 1989, he was quickly traded

Samuel Sosa, born November 12, 1968, hails from the Dominican Republic. His legal birthplace is San Pedro de Macors, which was the largest town in the vicinity, despite the fact that he was born in a Batey village in Consuelo. Sosa is commonly referred to as "Mikey" by his family and friends. His maternal grandmother did not only come up with this moniker, but she also requested that he be given the name Samuel at birth. She was impressed by the name after hearing it on a soap opera, and she made the decision that from that point forward, he would be known as Mikey.

Sosa blasted 36 home runs and had 119 RBIs in 1997, but he only hit.251 with a.300 on-base percentage and 174 strikeouts, which was the most in the league.

In 1998, he finally broke through as one of baseball's all-time greats after years of being a feared power/speed threat in right field with a rocket arm. During this season, Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa were national sensations thanks to their "home run record chase"—an endeavor to break Roger Maris's single-season record of 61 home runs.

From the beginning of the year until the middle of May, Sosa was substantially behind McGwire in terms of home runs. At one point, he was as far behind as sixteen home runs. In spite of this, Sosa eventually equaled McGwire for the most home runs with 46 on August 10, as the pursuit continued. Nevertheless, McGwire made a little comeback and broke the record for home runs with 62 on September 8th, becoming him the first player to do
