Root Cause Analysis Paper

“Root Cause Analysis” is one method of determining the underlying reasons that something has occurred. This problem-solving technique is used in the work place, but it could also be used for evaluation or discovering true intentions. The analysis process involves a beginning statement. The question, “why” follows the statement and is answered. The answer is considered one cause of the initial statement, but it is not the root cause. To find the root cause, the previous answer becomes the next statement, and “why” is asked again. The idea is that if “why” is asked five times, the fifth answer will be the root cause. Using this technique, the root cause of why I will pursue pharmacy as my career will be revealed. Why will I pursue pharmacy as my career? I am choosing pharmacy because I possess the skills that a person needs to excel above and beyond the expectations of an average pharmacist. I can communicate with people one-on-one by effectively listening to them and explaining what they need to know. As a pharmacist, I will need these communication skills for teaching patients about their medications and working with my team members. Communication among the pharmacy team is critical in providing optimal care to patients. Another quality that makes me right for pharmacy is that I enjoy learning new things. Medication is constantly changing, so it is critical that pharmacists are up for life-long learning. I am also kind and patient, traits that are necessary when dealing with patients picking up their medications to treat a disease or condition, and that alone could make them more irritable than usual. It is part of the pharmacist’s job to keep this in mind and show kindness. Why do I have qualities needed to be a pharmacist? I was not born with these qualities. I was molded into who I am today through experiences. Being an early college high school student has been an experience. I was shy before I began Early College, but the environment forced me to open up to others because the program is set up to encourage team work. We did group projects and assignments several times each day, and even when we were not doing group projects, we were still expected to help each other. This prepared me for the mindset of how pharmacy operates even though I did not know it at the time. Family experiences have put me in the shoes of the patient. We cannot afford healthcare, so I know what it is like to be frustrated to go to the doctor’s office or pharmacy. Even though the health care professionals cannot make the bills go away, it is nice for them to actually seem genuine and care about you. Many events or situations in life are left to chance, God, or some other unexplained phenomenon, but some events in my life happened solely because I am determined to be successful with my life. When I make the decision to do something, I do it. I decided I would go to Early College, and I did it. My goal was to learn as much and take as many classes as possible during my time there. In my five years at Early College, I will have my high school diploma plus around 100 credits, when a traditional student would have gotten their high school diploma and completed one year of college.
