This "early Classic" style resembled the prevailing Rococo style in the fine arts and served as a bridge from the baroque to the Classic Period of the late eighteenth century, whose most celebrated representatives were Gluck, Haydn and Mozart. In Rococo music the main goal was to amuse. Its chief subject was love, which was both sophisticated and sentimental. The grand passions were replaced by refined wit, elegance, and touching sentiments. To gain greater contrast and increase expressiveness, the composers of the Rococo period started to use a wider gradation of dynamics than was used previously. To meet the requirements of the new style, changes in instruments occurred and the modern divisions of the orchestra and their function were established at this time. The different instruments of the orchestra were more clearly divided into choirs of like instruments: the strings, woodwinds, brasses and percussion. (Poon, 2016) Rococo music has influenced today’s music because of the way that we still use dynamics. In the Rococo style, walls, ceilings, and moldings were decorated with delicate interlacing of curves and counter curves based on the fundamental shapes of the “C” and the “S,” as well as with shell forms and other natural shapes. Asymmetrical design was the rule. Light pastels, ivory white, and gold were the predominant colors, and Rococo decorators frequently used mirrors to enhance the sense of open space. (Cunningham, 2014) In today’s architecture and design it is very popular to use crown molding for a home and this would be influenced by the Rococo style of moldings. Asymmetrical is still very popular in today’s architecture especially in homes, so this would have not been much different than what the Rococo era would have done. Today Rococo architecture is more noticeable in homes than it is in buildings unless the building was built long ago. In the Rococo era is was an idea that if you added a mirror into a room it would make the room feel more open, so people tended to do that to create the open feel. Today people tend to be attracted to an open concept house and people still add mirrors to rooms to make them feel more light and open.
