In 1948, Richard Kuklinski, at the age 13, was ambushed and beaten by Charley Lane, the leader of a small gang of teenagers in the neighbourhood, popularly known as "The Project Boys." He had been bullied for some time. After a particularly bad beating young Richard sought revenge, by attacking Charley Lane with a thick wooden rod ultimately beating him to death. Although he denied wanting to kill Lane, the bully did not wake up. Kuklinski then discarded Lane's body off a bridge in South Jersey, only after removing his teeth and chopping off his fingertips with a hatchet in an attempt to prevent identification of the body. Kuklinski didn’t have a typical relationship with his parents.Stanley his father was a brakeman at a railroad corporation and a repeated reported alcoholic; who would frequently beat his wife and children because he was under the influence of alcohol (Montaldo, 2014). Alcohol is a drug that affects one's mental and physical activity. Research shows that consumption of alcohol is one cause for criminal offenses and can damage a family dynamic. In one experimental study, subjects with a history argumentativeness and aggressive acts were more probable to be aggressive and violent after they had done some heavy drinking(Gale,1968). Anna McNally, Richard’s mother worked for a meat processing plant and was very strict with Kuklinski; she also sometimes beat him as well. This strictness Anna inforced on her children,were a result of her belief in the Catholic Church; where she was physically, sexually and mentally abused. She never showed her children any love, compassion or care. Anna would hit Richard using broomsticks and other items (“Hitman or Serial Killer?”,n.d.).The sole difference between the abuse he received from his parents, were that his mother only hit him if she had a reason too. While his father would hit him for no reason, which triggered him hate his father so intensely. He didn’t dislike his mother because he thought she was another victim of his father’s abuse.Richard often suffered through endless beatings by his father, which sometimes caused him to blackout.
