In this speech Sojourner Truth, gave this speech at a women’s convention in Akon, Ohio in 1851. There was an audience in attendance and they just listened to the powerful words of this women. In this speech, she talks about how a woman should be treated but if that is the case since I’m a women why am I not treated like this. She states the negro in the south says that women need to be helped into carriage, carried over ditches, and to have the best place everywhere. Yet no one ever helps her over carriages, or carried over ditches. She states that she can work just as much as a man and eat just like man when she can. She has given birth to 13 children and seen most of them sold to slavery and the only person left to her cry
