Throughout the main story game, the player must use their heroes to attack various stages of the map. Attacks are dealt in chains where longer chains deliver stronger attacks. When enough attacks are delivered, the hero gains spell power to attack with a special skill which inflicts more damage onto the enemies. The game is mostly based on the tapping of a finger and there are not much complicated movements needed for the game. The interface may seem simple, but the creation of attack chains to defeat the stronger enemies and the bosses require some skill and strategy. When the heroes reach maximum levels, they are able to become promoted into a stronger and upgraded version of themselves. Bread, gold, and honor become vital in promoting the hero as they are payment to get to the hero’s next stage. Often this payment does not come cheap, as much battling is involved to get to that level of promotion. Thus players are faced with challenge to get their players to that next level. Luckily, outside the main story, there are many side quests for the player to participate in. Often there are various benefits and incentives to participating in side quests, such as a payment of gold and jewels, a special hero’s contract, high leveled bread for hero’s training, and much more. These incentives to participate in the side quest, not only help hero’s level up as they battle but also helps the player gain more resources to promote their heroes. However, side quests can often become distracting and lead the player off the main story and delay the time it takes to reach the end of the story. The incentive system which is inherent within the game allows players to challenge themselves further where it not only allows them to gain the reward but also helps their hero’s level up. Crusader’s Quest is overall a very appealing game. Its aesthetics are interwoven into its storyline, artistic and sound design, and the gameplay itself.
