Chivalry's ideals will promote strength in people so they will have courage when facing the injustice of our society. Courage is a large part of chivalry and could help people stand up of one another. All it takes is one person with the courage to stand up for someone to start a huge movement. For his part in advocating racial harmony and equality through nonviolent means, King became the youngest ever recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 ("10 Revolutionary Acts of Courage by Ordinary People"). But it does not take someone special to make a difference and have courage when other people do not. Gun violence is everywhere in our society. As of December of 2015, “Austin, Texas is the only large city that has not experienced a mass shooting” (Mascia). Shootings can happen anywhere at anytime. With all the gun sales and irresponsible owners of guns out there it's no surprise there is an extremely high number of shootings. In fact, “mass shootings account for less than 2% of annual deaths” (Mascia). All these shootings are result of people becoming numb to taking another person's life. Some of the simplest ideals of chivalry involve basic respect for human life. Excluding suicides, on average 36 americans were killed every day this year (Mascia). Gang violence is a huge problem in the U. S. and people are killing others simply because they disagree. Guns are a tool that completely detach the user from the guilt of killing someone. Domestic violence assaults are 12 times more likely to result in death if guns are involved
