Literary Perspective:
The perspective in Grapes of Wrath is mostly 3rd person omniscient because the story is being told about the Joads from another’s words. There are breakaway chapters that tell about the car lot, and buying a car, where the narrator seems to narrate in first person and is the car lot owner. These chapters don’t reveal any knowledge of the feelings or thoughts of the Joad family. (study.com)
