Research Paper On Orion

Of the 88 official constellations, Orion, the Hunter, would be my absolute favorite for countless reasons. One of these being Orion is associated with specific personality traits that I find very important and some of which I possess myself. The personality linked with this constellation is a very strong and opinionated personality, with a desire to ask questions and understand things. Being a RavenClaw, I love to learn and understand new things and I seem to question everything. I have my own strong beliefs that I have formed myself and these are all things related to this constellation. Another reason this is my favorite constellation is because of the nebula that is in it, the Horse Head Nebula. This is one of my favorite nebulas, making me like this constellation so much more. The last reason is simple that I find it to be a beautiful constellation that I fell in love with on sight. Aside from just the …show more content…
The story goes like this…… Once upon a time there was a girl, who lived in the Flooberdigue Forest. She had lived there all her life in a small cozy treehouse handed down from her ancestors. The house though full of memories was empty apart from one person. She was a tall and slightly muscular girl with short hair. Everyone she came across believed her to be a guy, which did not matter to her. All that mattered was achieving her dream. When she was younger, before her parents perished on a journey they took, they told her a magnificent story called The Treasure of Gemini. A story of twins who lived far away, and in their possession they had a necklace that contained all knowledge in the universe. In the story many tried to get this glorious treasure, but alas, all have failed. The reason for their failure was the thing guarding the twins, a ferocious bull named Taurus. This was the girl’s dream, to attain this treasure that her parents failed to

My favorite constellation is Scorpius ("The Scorpion") due to the fact that I am a Scorpio (my birthday is November 15th). Scorpius is the southernmost constellation out of all the Zodiac constellations and is near the center of the Milky Way. Also, the red star, Antares, is located where the Scorpion's heart is supposed to be. The star is red because it should be going out soon. The Scorpion's heart may either turn into a black hole (which many describe our hearts to be like) or a new star.…

The constellation I've chosen, Sagittarius, represents the centaur Chiron. Most centaurs were seen as bestial, after all, they were half horse. However, the past Greeks had a lot of respect for the horse, so they were reluctant to make the centaurs enteirely bad. Actually, Chiron was reowned for his tenderness. Later, Chiron was harmed by Hercules by acident.…

my favourite constellation would be the Scorpius constellation, because that's my zodiac sign, and I love the way scorpio has made me the woman I am today, In Greek mythology, the myths associated with Scorpio almost invariably also contain a reference to Orion. I have chosen Cancer as my favorite constellation because it is the sign I was born under. Latin for "crab", it is the dimmest of all the zodiac constellations and used to be the Sun's most northerly position in the sky. It is located in between Gemini (to its west) and Leo(to its east). It is best known among stargazers as home of Praesepe, an open cluster. Cancer is most well known in Greek mythology as the crab sent by the goddess Hera to help the hydra kill Heracles.…

The constellation Capricornus appeals to me more then the other constellations as it is the depiction of the Capricorn birth sign, which is the sign I fall under. This constellation represents Oannes the sea-goat God of Wisdom in Assyro-Babylonian depictions. The Capricornus is located in the Southern Sky and its name translates to "the goat" in Latin. Delta Capricorni is the brightest star in this constellation and it is the second most faintest constellation in the sky making it very difficult to see without the correct tools.…

The Big Dipper is the first constellation I learned to identify as a child. Though I made up stories and constellations as I stared into the velvety darkness, the Big Dipper was the only "real" one I knew. This constellation is one of the easiest to find, as well as being one of the few that can be spotted year-round in North America. It is also part of another constellation, Ursa Major. Another advantage to being able to point out is that it also becomes easy to find Polaris, the North Star.…

Neptune is also known as the is a dark, cold, and windy planet that’s been discovered in 1846 by John Couch Adams, Johann Gottfried Galle, and Urbain Le Verrier. The reason for Neptune being -10 degrees is because it’s eight planets away from the sun. A way to describe Neptunes physical features is “Neptune has an incredibly thick atmosphere comprised of 74% hydrogen, 25% helium and approximately 1% methane. Its atmosphere also contains icy clouds and the fastest winds recorded in the solar system. Particles of icy methane and minor gases in the extremities of the atmosphere give Neptune its deep blue colour.”…

Sea stars, along the Pacific coasts of California (Lopatto, 2014), are inevitably vulnerable to what scientists refer to as the “sea star wasting sickness.” Major ailments like this can hinder an ecosystem’s biological composure, considering the fact that sea stars are keystone species. Should the sea star succumb to such a major disturbance in their population, other species will be negatively impacted as well. Scientists are becoming very analytical as to what exactly is causing the endangerment. Several potential causes for this disease can involve the sea stars’ exposure to different environmental conditions (Venton, 2013) and infectious or virulent agents.…
