John Wooden was an amazing coach, and was also an amazing leader. He coached basketball for UCLA from 1964 to 1975 and won 10 championships. He made his players better in areas they could change, rather than in ones they couldn’t. For example, he made one of his shortest players extremely fast. John Wooden had great leadership skills over his players and was one of the best coaches ever. John Wooden wanted his players to be independent at games and not rely on him to make every call. He believed in his players. He never showed it, though. He always kept himself mellow and never overreacted. He knew that if he did that, his players would get excited too. But he wanted to keep players’ emotions on an even keel. John Wooden’s best leadership skills were his ability to max out a players qualities, to make players independent, and to make players try their best. …show more content…
Because if a player is short, there is nothing you can do about it, but if a player is fast, you can make him faster. Also, making players independent in games is good because you can get them to make game winning plays without having to rely on you. And that goes on later in life and makes the players more successful later on. And most importantly, making players try their hardest to win is good because you have to always try and slacking off is bad not only for yourself, but for the entire team.

Other leaders also have the same attributes as John Wooden for leadership as well. One example would be teachers. Teachers have to make their students independent for later grades and adult life. They also make students better in categories that they can change. If you don’t understand math, teachers help you and explain it more clearly so you can do it yourself.
