It's a fact, graffiti is done on property that doesn't belong to the people who do it, without permission. In Paragraph 5 of Article #2 it says that "New York City subway trains served as the ideal canvas." Subway cars belong to the city, and since the city did not give permission for people to put graffiti on the cars it is vandalism. Another example is in video 2, the owner of a furniture making company was very upset that his workshop had been covered in graffiti. The people who put the graffiti there did it without his permission, and he did not want the graffiti on his building. In Paragraph 6 of Article A it says the because of graffiti one person "has had to have his fence repainted 7 times at least." Since they had to cover up the graffiti, it shows that it was not wanted there and that it defaced the property. In the paragraph titled A Sign of Urban Decay in Article B, it says that graffiti "lowers property values." Because of the defacement, then the worth of the property goes down which means that the property has become less desirable, thus showing it's been damaged in some way.
