Brunelleschi’s Dome
For part 1 I chose to study the building of the dome in Florence, Italy. I chose to study this particular subject because I am studying to become an architect. It was very intriguing to me to learn how significant this discovery was to not only the world of architecture but just the world in general.
The church was built in 1296 but they didn’t know how to cover the big hole so they just left it as it was. In 1418 they decided something had to be done. They wanted to cover the precious artifacts that were supposed to be standing in the church.
Many questions and concerns arose as this was the first dome of this size. The dome had to span a 150-foot gap and would have to be constructed
