Trust is the foundation of any and all relationships. Without trust a relationship is weak, and built on lies thus it will deteriorate over time and destroy whatever the relationship could have been. The relationship between Daisy and Gatsby is true love but, it is short lived due to the fact that the timing of their relationship could not work out and by the time things could have worked out she could not leave her marriage for her true love. The messy marriage between Daisy and Tom is not true love. It is a love affair, and pure greed. In the novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald many relationships are destroyed due to love affairs, lack of trust, and lies.
