The field of nursing has a wide range of careers. The thought of helping patients to recover, giving people advise on various medical conditions and how to manage them makes me enthusiastic about choosing a career in registered nursing. A Registered nurse is a professional in the field of nursing who has several roles when it comes to offering medical care. A registered nurse coordinates and delivers patient care gives guidance and counseling to patients and the public on different medical conditions and they also provide emotional care to their patients (bureau of labor statistics). Firstly, a registered nurse should have critical thinking skills. A nurse who critically thinks about the health status and condition of the patient can decide on the best corrective measures to approach. Secondly, a nurse should have excellent communication abilities which help in effective communication with patients and other professionals. Good communication ensures that instructions are given to patients with clarity. Thirdly, good personal skills come in handy when attending to patients. Being empathetic, collected and compassionate towards a patient may provide them emotional support and speed up the healing process (Bureau of labor statistics). Fourthly, being organized is important because it ensures patients records are updated in time and with accuracy. Lastly, registered nurses should be concerned with detail. Why is it so intriguing to you yet it requires a lot of dedication and has a lot of occupational hazards? Registered nursing is a career I have been eyeing for some years. I grew in an environment where I encountered a lot of sick people whom I knew. Their conditions were poorly managed to lead to severe consequences. This situation made me passionate about taking care of the ill and registered nursing was just the right career path for me. Registered nurses are in constant contact with patients.
