We told him our drinks. A few minutes passed by and he came with our drinks and brought us some chips and salsa. It be at least forty-five minutes until we would get our table and order our food. The hunger in me was eating me alive! I was starving. I at least ate two little baskets of chips and salsa. The little gadget Coach Martin had started flashing violently and making a weird noise, and that right there was our cue that our table was finally ready. The waiter picked us up at the entrance and walked us to our table. While we were walking to our table I couldn’t help to notice that, that restaurant was probably the first one I’ve been to that’s been packed with human beings. We got to our table and the waiter gave us menus and asked for our drinks. He came back with our drinks and then took our orders. In order for the time to pass so it wouldn’t seem like they were taking forever we decided to play a game. We played this fun and exciting game until the waiter arrived with our food. The whole squad met down in the lobby. After we were all there we hopped in the suburban and went to go eat some breakfast. We arrived at IHOP. We walked in, and made our way to the front desk to get our table. The waiter brought us our drinks we ordered and asked if we were ready to order. When the waiter left we decided to talk about the battle plan for the day. By the time we finished talking what we were going to do, our food had showed up on the table. We munched it down, left a tip, and we were on our way to the most exciting place of our lives. We pulled up to Old Settler’s park and I felt that there was a whole zoo in my stomach. I was really nervous. We all thought it would be a good idea to go walk the course to see what the challenge was. It was steaming hot outside. We walked back to our families that were chilling under some trees, and watching the race that was being held. We were all nervous. It was about time for Vanessa and I to start warming up. We went for a five minute jog to warm our legs up a bit. Then we heard the announcement to start heading towards the starting line. The nerves in me grew bigger and bigger. Usually in a regular cross country meet you are put in the same box to start with your team. Vanessa and I were in two different boxes. Which kind of had me worried. Then I remembered that we didn’t advance as a team. So I did some stretches, talked to the people in my box. Then the announcer
