Confident was the key emotion I felt upon submission of my personal narrative essay, The Lone Book. Though I felt extremely vulnerable for another individual--a stranger at that--to read something that I hold so dear to my heart, I was still rather confident in my piece and hopeful for a 100%. I felt the strength of this paper was specific to the topic I chose to write, a bit risky but, something unique; not a typical cookie-cutter approach. Additionally, I considered my choice of strong vocabulary words an improvement, resulting in another strength of the paper. Unfortunately, the weakness of mine, which holds true to most of my writings, comes with the improper use of grammar and punctuation.…
The writing process is different for everyone. Some people may skip a few steps and others may throw in some extra. I personally believe that my process is most effective for me and my style of writing. My general process is to understand the prompt, know the audience, research, outline, write a rough draft, edit, and write a final draft.…

In 2007, at 18 years old, I was arrested in Edgewater, New Jersey. My vehicle, then, was a black 2004 Saturn. The car was parked near 725 River Road Edgewater, NJ at the time of the arrest. The passengers with me included my sister, Tianna DeJesus, who was sitting in the back seat, and my boyfriend at the time, Ralph Fernandez, who was in the passenger seat.…
As I started my senior year in High School, its was quite unnatural knowing that I am one step closer of going into the "real world", you know that "world" that your teachers and parents always preach teens about. I never really knew what was next for me, but bemusement never stopped me from knowing my interest. My devotion is for my English because it involves learning about real world issues. The one lesson that enlightened me is "The Danger of The Single Story". The "Single Story" narrative by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie states that a "single story" is one in which only know one side of the story, and this is problematic because if we are exposed to only one side, then that is how stereotypes and ignorance is created.…
As digital learning developers, my team and Iusuallyspent most of our working time behind a screen at our desks. This is great as it allows us to experience the flow of different digital artefacts creation. However, the stories that we want to share with our learners are not laying there. They are created, happening, exposed and shared where our customers are, where the products are produced, where the sales experts who are going to use our e-learning coursesare operating. Thus, it is important that we start “…immersing ourselves in the place of most potential, in the places which matter most to the situation we are dealing with.”…
Dear readers, In this portfolio, I have included four different parts of my writing. Firstly, I would love to talk about my “Best Writing Piece Ever”. This part is quite personal to me because it is based on my own writing and the piece that I have selected is truly from my heart and I have put mg great effort on writing it. It is an academic paper that I wrote for one of the courses that I have taken for this semester.…
Throughout this semester of English 101, writing has become more of a skill than a struggle. Writing was a challenge that I dreaded when I chose to be in the course, nonetheless with time, I learned from my mistakes and was able to improve. This course made me very doubtful on whether I could be capable of even writing a paper that would provide me with a decent grade, but at the same time made me push myself in my writing technique. In the end, I can reflect that I learned from my mistakes and wrote papers that took time and dedication to accomplish. I learned from this class to be confident in my writing and make all the mistakes to receive the grade I want in the end.…

When writing different types of essay and also being able to tell my classmates and also my audience about my what my story is talking about and being able to get their attention. I learned so much more than I ever did in highschool and I will take my skills to my english class and be able to explain and understand and able to finish and write a well written essay. The difference and also realized and compared this class and every how english and history work well with each other.…
- The genre of this primary source is historical fiction being presented as narrative nonfiction. What I mean by this is that the work is considered by the author himself to be true and is thus presented and stylized to us in a way that is considered to be Narrative nonfiction. However, seeing as the source also delves into religious and spiritual idioms, it is also in many ways a religious writing. - The source could also be considered in the mystery genre as the entire plot of the story hinges on the discovery of who or what is stalking the woman.…

Even though I have had many lifelong experiences that affect the way I read and write today, I have a few that stand out more than others. Certain experiences such as the task of writing my own essay and writing my own memoirs have developed the person I am today. An individual who enjoys writing exactly what they mean and can speak passionately about something in which they have an interest in. My intricate experience with writing not only makes me a better author, but also lets me express my identity more by giving me an outlet for my thoughts. When I first started writing, I was always uneasy whenever I got a writing assignment.…
A writing experience that has stood out the most for me was when I was a sophomore in High School. There was a girl in my class who I wasn't so fond of who one day decided to announce to everyone that she had begun to write her own stories. She showed everyone pieces of her writings expecting to get nothing but compliments and be to deemed the class writer, but when she finally showed me her work I cringed at how deplorable it was. The stories had no clear perspective of whether it was written in first person or third person view, some of the simplest of words were spelled wrong, and many words were used in the wrong context. The class didn't seem to care for her stories so they just gave standard responses with no words for…
English 2010 has been a learning experience for me, I've been able to learn a lot about english that I did not know or work on before. With the first essay that we worked on I did a memoir I really enjoyed working on this paper, In class we were able to get freedom to add pictures to are pictures make it a little bit more creative I certainly was not used to this; I’ve been told my whole schooling experience that you have the intro and the conclusion and three body paragraphs. The memoir I was able to write to what I felt like I needed it to be, add pictures so it could appeal more to the eye when reading and also made it easier.…
When I was young I was never the best at reading even though my parents owned many books and magazines that they read on a daily basis. My mother enjoyed reading her gossip magazines that she would receive in the mail once a month and my father had a whole bookshelf full of history books. My parents would always encourage me to read the books I would check out at the school library to improve my reading and writing but that advice usually went in through one ear and out the other. The only books I would really attempt to read had to be humorous or horrifying, my favorites were the Goosebumps collection. I loved reading these books alone in my room where I couldn’t be sidetracked by all the commotion that went on in my house.…
