1; My political beliefs are mainly moralistic and communitarian. That is, I believe that the government should act as a moral entity, working to protect the vital wellbeing of people, and to promote the improvement of people’s conditions; whether that be on social or economic issues. As such, I had found that neither of the main parties really appealed to me. While each had certain things which I liked, each had other positions I found repelling.
I am also a teetotaler, who opposes intoxicants, because intoxicants are a poison to the person, their mind, and character. Intoxication is immoral, irrational, self-destructive, and harmful to both the user and humanity a large. A sensible and civilized society should not allow such poison, and do what it can to combat its use, and to dismantle the greedy industries …show more content…
I ended up finding some information on the prohibition party. I found its opposition to alcohol appealing. I was further encouraged by the new party platform from the 2015 conference. This platform combined conservative and progressive platforms in a manner which was rather favorable to both wellbeing oriented social policy and government programs. I was further encouraged by the party’s energized efforts, and in the summer of 2016, I came to the decision that I would join the party and aid in their work. Looking back on it, I am glad that I made that decision, and I am hopeful for the party’s future.
