This is noteworthy because in the long run, that experience could put you in an innovative position. They gave the specific example of James Dyson, founder of the bagless vacuum cleaner. One day when Dyson was thinking about the vacuum, he was reminded of a sawmill, which uses an industrial cyclone so that they don’t have to keep emptying the bags. Putting these two distinct ideas together, Dyson was able to invent the bagless vacuum, which became extremely popular and is one of the reasons, Dyson has a net worth of over a billion dollars. All of these was possible because Dyson paid attention to how the sawmill worked, which at the time might have appeared to have been useless information. Another valuable lesson that they discussed was to make sure that everyone sets up joy to be apart of their habit. They applied this point to the weekly schedule of an average person. Towards, the end of their talk, the speakers mentioned that after anything, you take away about three major ideas. The first idea that stuck in my mind was that I should be willing to try new things even if they seem to be irrelevant. To apply this concept in my life, I will try to get involved in a handful of organizations which have to do with various things ranging from community service to intramural sports. In addition, another important message that the speakers mentioned was that you have to make sure that you enjoy everything you do. In order to keep my happiness stable throughout the week, I can incorporate fun activities like playing sports with my friends to counter more stressful things like studying for tests.
