I always knew that marketing was a major part of business; however I did not realize all the different parts. Marketing as our textbook discusses is defined as “the entire process of creating relationships with customers by offering goods, services, and experiences that they value. It does not matter what a company has to offer if there is not people out there who want or need it. The marketing mix, which is different marketing activities, delivered to customers and are valued. These are divided into four different categories, products, price, placement and promotion. All the categories are highly important. Research needs to be done in order to be successful. A large amount of a company’s budget goes to marketing, so the person in charge needs to be innovative and organized while having the company’s goals in mind. Marketing can be done in so many different ways and in the world we live in today it seems that online marketing is most popular and works the best. Online marketing is referred to as content marketing. Content marketing as stated in the book is “an online marketing tactic that uses blogs, videos, infographics, and other content to attract and engage customers.” The thing that surprised me the most in our book was the amount of people who joined a union in the 19th century. I remember learning about the union and the strikes they held throughout school, I just do not remember it being as big as it was. I am very thankful for the changes that have come from the people in the union who chose to fight for better pay and working conditions. They definitely have influenced and changed the working world and made it what it is
