Reference Assistant Position Analysis

This position is of critical importance to Research & Learning Services in multiple capacities:

1. Reference Assistants provide high level, front-line service, including many evening and weekend hours when they are the only Reference staff member available to the public. The support they provide covers a wide spectrum of reference, information, and technical support.

2. Loss of this position would result in a reduction of service hours and service consistency and would have an immediate negative impact on our users, many of whom depend evening and weekend hours support.

3. This position directly supervises and develops the student assistant program, a key component of both the Reference and Maps room operations.
