The event that I went to was about a documentary on a man called Vertus Hardiman. Mr. Hardiman was a special person because at the age of 5 he was one of the nine children who was part of an experiment. When the local county hospital was about to take the children, their parents were informed that the children are getting treatments in order to get rid of the ringworm that was on their head and part of their body. During this period, the disease was a serious issue because people had no money to buy medicine such as, vinegar. They government wanted to stop the fear of the disease from spreading to other children. The types of children that they experiment on were children of color. For Mr. Hardiman, he recalled when one of the nurse said that, “I think I gave him too much.” On the way back from the hospital, the children did not know what happened to them, some of them were sick, and for others, they were not sick because they were not given too many radiations. As the documentary went on, it showed that the principal of the school did not want this experiment to occur, but at the same time it might cost him his career. The documentary went further to demonstrate that this experiment did not only happen in the United States, it showed that it occurred in Israel. The Israeli government needed money, so the United States sent them money in exchange of experiment on the children.
